Racine Theatre Guild Offers Chicago Theatre Trip

The Racine Theatre Guild is offering a bus trip to a Chicago theatre in 2007. Due to the extreme popularity of the hit musical, group ticket orders had to be placed far in advance for “The Color Purple” on August 17.
Critics have called “The Color Purple,” “A soaring, joyful Broadway musical” (Richard Corliss, Time) and “A bright odyssey of survival and triumph with a fairy-tale sense of wonder” (Ben Brantley, The New York Times). Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the acclaimed film by Steven Spielberg, “The Color Purple” is the soul-stirring story of a woman who finds the strength to triumph over adversity and find her voice in the world. Featuring music by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray and a book by Marsha Norman, it is produced by Oprah Winfrey and directed for Broadway by Gary Griffin, who will also helm the show in Chicago. Felicia P. Fields, who plays Sofia on Broadway, is expected to appear in the Chicago production.
For “The Color Purple,” buses will leave the RTG parking lot on Friday, August 17, promptly at 5 p.m. for the 8 p.m. curtain at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. The fee is $93 for seating in the lower balcony and $123 in the orchestra.
Prices include a theatre ticket and round-trip bus transportation from 2519 Northwestern Avenue in Racine , plus soft drinks and light snacks. To register for the trip, call 262-633-4218, or pick up a flier at the Racine Theatre Guild, a nonprofit community theatre offering a wide range of entertainment and enrichment opportunities for all ages.
