THEATRE CLASS INSTRUCTORS
KARA ERNST- SCHALK has participated in over 50 productions at the Racine Theatre Guild. She has directed/choreographed our shows: Little Shop of Horrors, The Marvelous Wonderettes, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, The Rocky Horror Show, I Do! I Do!, My Way, A Grand Night for Singing and Lucky Stiff. She has produced many Children’s Theatre productions including this season’s upcoming productions of Let Down Your Hair, Rapunzel andThe Big Bad Musical. Kara holds her BFA in Musical Theatre (UW-Stevens Point). She received her acting training at The Lee Strasburg Theatre and Film Institute and her dance training at The Milwaukee Ballet Studio, DanceWorks and Broadway Dance Center.
BRIANA LIPOR, a native of Racine, recently played Ariel in Greendale Community Theatre’s production of The Little Mermaid. She began her training in theater under the direction of former Theater Guild teacher, Phyllis Mount. Her passion for the arts blossomed throughout her childhood landing her roles in shows such as South Pacific, Beauty and the Beast, Guys and Dolls, Footloose and many more! She went on to study Vocal Performance at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in Kenosha, WI. Her love for music, theater and dance motivated her to become a state representative for Music Friends organization and carry the message of arts education nationally as Miss Wisconsin 2008. Briana is thrilled to continue another year as an educator with The Racine Theater Guild.
ROBERT KROES is an award winning teacher and performer from the Racine area. He holds his Bachelors of Music from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point with degrees in vocal performance, choral and general music education. He has participated at the Racine Theatre Guild in Les Miserables (Enjolras), Spamalot (Patsy), Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour), Lend Me a Tenor (Max), A Night at the Nutcracker (Eddie), and Mary Poppins (Bert). Robert is the Director of Choral Activities at Union Grove High School.
KATE KOWBEL is theater instructor and director of Horlick Theatre Arts. She has directed Almost, Maine for RTG and Pinocchio and The Tale of Peter Rabbit (and Benjamin Bunny) for RCT. She’s first became involved with the Guild in high school when she was cast in HONK! Since then she has participated in over 40 of our productions.
