Acting Classes for Kids

 

 

RTG Fall 2014 Theatre Classes

Fall Theatre Classes Begin Sept. 22 at Racine Theatre Guild

 

Please note:

  • Students must meet age requirement by first day of class.
  • If minimum enrollment isn’t met 1 week prior to start date, class may be cancelled.
  • Down payment of 50% is non-refundable, except when class is cancelled.
  • Households registering for 2 or more sessions with fees equal to or greater than $100 get a $10 discount per session.
  • If Racine Unified cancels classes due to weather, so does RTG.

 

Creative Kids (ages 3-5) – $100

Thursdays, September 25-December 18 (no class Thursday, November 27), 4:00-4:45 p.m.

Creative movement plays an integral role in a child’s development.  This class provides an opportunity for the youngest artists to explore the space around them through rhythm and expression.  It’s playtime with a purpose; fun set to music. Instructor: Kara Ernst

 

Broadway Bound, Junior (ages 6-9) – $140

Wednesdays, September 24-December 10, 4:45-6:00 p.m.

“Triple threats” of the future are introduced to the three elements of musical theatre: singing, acting and dancing. The session concludes with a performance of a mini-musical!

Act Up! – $140

Junior (ages 6-9): Mondays, September 22-December 8, 4:45-6:00 p.m.

Intermediate (ages 10-14): Tuesdays, September 23-December 9, 4:45-6:00 p.m.

Build confidence and improve focus while acquiring basic skills of relaxation, improvisation, character creation and performance.  Activities will be geared to the specific ages of participants.  Each session concludes with a performance of scenes.

Adult Acting (ages 17+) – $150

Mondays, November 3-December 8, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

 

Through exhilarating games and exercises, learn to bring depth to your characters, establish and explore their relationships, and bring realism to scenes. This class is perfect for performers looking to hone their acting skills or for those who just want to have fun! There will be opportunity to perform for family and friends at the final meeting.

Specialty Mini-Sessions (ages 9-14) – $50 for one, $95 for two, $130 for three

Mix and match to design the acting semester that best meets the interests of the student.

-Impact Improvisation!

Thursdays, September 18-October 9, 4:45-6:00 p.m.

Get ready to get active! Students will create characters and scenes using improvisation games and exercises.

 

-Never Fear, It’s Shakespeare!

Thursdays, October 16-November 6, 4:45-6:00 p.m.

From page to stage, the work of William Shakespeare comes alive!  Explore the poetry and characters of Shakespeare’s world from a kid’s eye view.

 

-Musical Theater Dance

Thursdays, November 13-December 11 (no class Thursday, November 27), 4:45-6:00 p.m.

Get moving and have a blast with dance styles commonly used in musical theatre.  Participants should have ballet or jazz shoes. No prior dance experience necessary.

 

 

To register, call the box office at 262-633-4218 or visit the Racine Theatre Guild, weekdays from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. Registration cannot be completed online. The RTG is a nonprofit community theatre providing entertainment, education and enrichment opportunities year-round.
